Brent Newsome to Receive Volunteer Award
Brent Newsome is one busy guy. As President & CEO of the award winning !doctype> in Bedford he leads a technology development team of 40 people developing software for mobile telephone networks with clients around the world. He’d be a person one would expect wouldn’t have time to volunteer to Scouting. Instead, Brent is a member of 1st Bedford Scouting’s Group Committee, the Group Registrar, a Cub Scout Leader, and the Bedford United Church Representative. In these capacities Brent oversees the delivery of quality scouting programs to the youth of Bedford, and maintains the registration records of almost 150 youth and adult members in Bedford. He has helped in community environmental clean up, participation in Bedford Remembrance Day ceremonies and the annual ‘Light Up Bedford Parade’. Brent coordinated Bedford’s first All Section Camp for parents and youth at Camp Lone Cloud in October of 2010. He entertained about 100 parents and youth at the Miller Lake island camp as the chief cook, quartermaster, and program helper along with many other adult volunteers. Brent Newsome has set a fine example of Leadership in our Group and encourages, by his example, other adult volunteers to become more involved in the delivery of value based Scouting programs in the Bedford community. We are pleased that the Bedford Volunteer Recognition Committee has chosen recognize Brent for all of his volunteer contributions on April 3, 2011. If you see Brent, please say ‘Thanks’ for all he does for us.
